Title Dad's Chili for an Army
Description

Dad always cooked in bulk, to feed an army.

Ingredients:

4 pounds Ground Beef

2 T Butter

3 onions, finely chopped

1 green pepper, finely chopped

2 yellow bell peppers, finely chopped

2 garlic cloves, minced

4 16 oz cans stewed tomatoes

4 16 oz cans kidney beans drained

1 16 oz can diced tomatoes

2 6 oz cans tomato paste

1 cup water

1 T salt

1 t pepper

3 whole cloves

2 bay leaves

2 T chili powder

Directions:

1. In a large skillet brown ground beef, onions, garlic, green and yellow peppers in butter.  Drain off fat.

2.  Combine in a 3 1/2 or 4 quart crockery cooker.

3.  Cover; cook on low-heat setting for 8 to 10 or on high-heat setting for 4 to 5 hours. 

4.  Serve with Cheddar Cheese sprinkled on top with crackers.   

Number of Servings:

15 - 20 servings

Preparation Time:

30 minutes (but don't forget the crock pot cooking time)
